| Herons herb garden is a beautiful fifteen bed garden on the grounds of The Umstead Hotel. The garden can be viewed from our terrace and features herbs used in Herons. The garden contains Sweet Basil, Opal Basil, Thai Basil, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Bay leaves, Chives, and six different varieties of Thyme. The pride of our staff carries over to the herb garden as the Chefs grow and select the herbs we use daily. Our culinary staff can be seen several times on most days in the garden pruning the herbs to be used for service that evening. |
